Women Are Living Longer, But Not Necessarily Better
As Australians live longer than ever before, many women are spending more years managing chronic health concerns associated with ageing. At the same time, the latest RACGP Health of the Nation (RACGP) data reveals that while 83 per cent of GPs want to provide more preventative care, only one in three say they have the time.
In a bid to make wellness more accessible, WelleCo’s The Longevity Elixir launch comes at a critical time. While Australians enjoy one of the world's longest life expectancies, women are spending more years than ever in "poor health”, with the RACGP highlighting musculoskeletal and heart conditions the top three reasons for GP visits.
And for many women navigating perimenopause and menopause from as early as 35 years of age, the early signs of hormonal change including shifts in energy, cognition, sleep and musculoskeletal health - can be difficult to identify and address early. Furthermore, women may experience some GPs who frequently wait for these symptoms to become chronic, often beginning as early as 65 years of age.
A science-backed daily powder formulated to empower how women approach long-term wellbeing, WelleCo’s The Longevity Elixir is designed to support women navigating the complexities of midlife and menopause, and it may support these four pillars and key ingredients for long-term vitality:
-
Bone Health: Vitamin K2 and D3 to ensure calcium is directed to the skeleton, supporting density as hormonal protection shifts
-
Cardiovascular Health: Resveratrol to support arterial elasticity and heart energy
-
Muscle Function: Targeted nutrients like Magnesium to maintain lean muscle mass, a critical marker for metabolic health
-
Cognitive Vitality: Neuro-protective antioxidants like Niacin and B12 to support mental clarity and help curb the "brain fog" associated with hormonal transitions
In response, one of Australia’s leading healthcare practitioners, Dr Jason Chan and trusted expert in nutrition and wellbeing, Zoe Bingley-Pullin are encouraging Australian women to take control of their own ageing trajectory, moving away from the fear of getting older and toward the power of living a vibrant life to the fullest.
Dr Jason Chan said that although healthcare providers acknowledge the importance of preventative care and want to provide it, accessibility and convenience is a barrier for patients.
“Our healthcare system was built for acute care, but today’s challenge is people living with multiple chronic conditions that could have been mitigated decades earlier,” Dr Chan said.
In women, bone density peaks as early as 35 years and begins to decline with age, accelerating rapidly after menopause due to reduced oestrogen levels. This loss of bone density is the primary driver of osteoporosis risk. In addition, cardiovascular risk increases for women in their 40s and so early prevention is key.”
Famed author and wellbeing practitioner and nutritionist, Zoe Bingley Pullin, shares her early journey through perimenopause and admits it took her time to realise her own body’s signals, even when her health was her number one priority.
“My own perimenopause journey started at 39, much earlier than I expected. I had anxiety, joint pain, sleep disruption, mood changes, irregular periods, and I was waking hot during the night wondering what was happening to my body. Even as a nutritionist, it took time to realise hormones were at the centre of it,” Zoe said.
A firm believer that supplementation supports health where it matters most, Zoe advises that longevity is not built on one hero ingredient rather built on the daily support of one’s health foundations and at the cellular level.
“Supplements are only one part of a longevity routine, but they are a non-negotiable part of the foundation. In any stage of peri or menopause, the body’s nutritional demands skyrocket, so supplementation provides the coordination required to keep heart, bones, and cells in sync. It allows women to transition from a reactive 'fix-it' mindset to a proactive 'optimise-it' lifestyle.”
Designed to complement WelleCo’s hero product, The Super Elixir, The Longevity Elixir builds on the brand’s wellness philosophy with targeted support for bone, muscle, cardiovascular and cognitive health.
WelleCo’s The Longevity Elixir has an RRP of $109 and is available from 18 May 2026 through the official website, welleco.com.au, and major Australian retailers.
